What is a die cut sticker?
A die cut sticker is cut precisely to the outline of your artwork — all the way through both the vinyl and the paper backing. There's no extra material around the design: the sticker you hold is exactly the shape you drew, whether that's a logo, a mascot, or hand lettering.
Because the finished sticker follows the art so closely, die cut is the format people picture when they think “custom sticker.” It looks finished and intentional before it's ever applied, which is why it's the default choice for custom die cut stickers used as giveaways, packaging extras, and laptop swag.
What are kiss cut stickers?
Kiss cut stickers are cut through the vinyl layer but not the backing paper — the blade just “kisses” the surface. Your design peels off a larger backing, usually a square or rectangle with a border of extra material around the art.
That border isn't wasted space. It protects thin edges and fine details from tearing, makes the sticker much easier to peel, and gives you room to print branding or instructions around the design. If your art has delicate elements — script lettering, whiskers, stems, tiny cutouts — custom kiss cut stickers are the safer format.
What's the difference between die cut and kiss cut stickers?
One thing: how deep the cut goes. Die cut goes through vinyl and backing; kiss cut goes through vinyl only. Everything else — the material, the print quality, the waterproof UV laminate, how it looks once it's on a bottle or bumper — is exactly the same. Kiss cut vs die cut — which is better for my design?
Neither is “better” — it depends on the artwork and how the sticker will be handed out. A quick gut check:
Go die cut when…
- Your design has a bold, clean outline
- You're handing stickers out and want a premium feel
- The sticker is the product — logos, merch, swag
Go kiss cut when…
- The art has thin lines, script, or fine details
- You want easy peeling for kids or events
- You'd like branding printed around the sticker
Remember: this only affects the sticker before it's applied. On the water bottle or car window, a die cut and kiss cut version of the same design are indistinguishable.
What are sticker sheets and how many stickers fit on one?
A sticker sheet is kiss cutting taken further: one backing sheet with several kiss cut stickers on it. Instead of one design per backing, you get a whole collection — mixed shapes, sizes, and designs on a single peel-off sheet.
How many fit depends on sheet and sticker size. As a rule of thumb, a 4"×6" sheet comfortably fits about 6–12 small (roughly 1") stickers, and a 5.5"×8.5" sheet can hold a dozen or more before designs start crowding. We lay out spacing for you so nothing overlaps a cut line.

Die-cut vs kiss-cut vs sticker sheets: which should you order?
All three print on the same vinyl with the same waterproof laminate, so the choice comes down to your artwork and how you plan to hand the stickers out:
- One design with a clean shape — order die cut. The classic custom sticker, trimmed to the outline of your art. It feels premium in hand, which is why it's the default for logos, merch, and giveaways.
- One design with delicate details — order kiss cut. The border of backing protects thin lines and script in transit, makes peeling effortless, and gives you space to print branding around the design.
- Multiple designs together — order sticker sheets. A whole collection on one backing sheet. One print run covers every design, making it the most economical option for planner sets, party favors, and merch bundles.
- Printing on clear vinyl — either cut works. Both styles cut clear material just as cleanly; just plan for a white ink underlayer anywhere your design needs to stay opaque.

Can clear stickers be die cut?
Yes — clear vinyl cuts the same way white vinyl does, so clear stickers can be die cut to any shape. Since the material is transparent, the cut edge all but disappears once the sticker is applied, which makes clear die cuts a favorite for glass, packaging, and product labels.
One thing to know: standard printing has no white ink, so white or very light parts of your design will print transparent on clear vinyl. If your art needs white, we print a white ink underlayer behind it so the colors stay solid on any surface.
